Hiroshima & Miyajima Extension (3 Days from Osaka)
The Sanyo Shinkansen makes Hiroshima an easy add-on to any Kansai stay — and the JR Pass even covers the ferry to Miyajima.

Osaka → Hiroshima
Sakura services are covered by the Japan Rail Pass (Mizuho is not). Spend the afternoon at the Peace Memorial Park and Museum — the Hiroden tram from the station stops right there.

Miyajima
The JR ferry to the island is covered by the JR Pass and the Seishun 18 Kippu (a separate ¥100 visitor tax applies). Time your visit with the tide table to see the torii both floating and walkable.

Return via Himeji
Break the return trip at Himeji — the castle is a straight 15-minute walk from the station — then continue to Shin-Osaka by Shinkansen or the JR Kobe Line Special Rapid.
